Team Spotlight: Kyle Brooks
Meet Kyle Brooks, CEO at Bespoke Audio Visual. His positive attitude, ambition, and humour make him an important part of our team.
“Kyle is without a doubt the heart and soul of this organization. Focused intently on our culture, our work, and our impact to our clients he pushes the organization daily to achieve our best goals. I count myself lucky for our unique meeting of minds to have occurred as we have seemingly balance each other perfectly – his pursuit of overall event vision, objectives, and perfection no matter the obscure ask has continually been married and met by my keen focus for dates and times, location and that isn’t a quantity. I joke of course but his ability to infuse in our entire organization, and myself included a view towards the big picture and why – not just the gear and where it has to be delivered – has been an incredible inspiration. All while keeping a keen sense of humour and down to earth personality – I’m not sure what more there is to ask.” Mike Wilson, COO
What do you like most about being on the Bespoke Audio Visual team?
I love the family culture that our company has. Everyone supports one another. When we get stuck there is a big group of people to help. People are truly curious.
How do you spend your free time?
I love to read. I love to walk. I love the water. I spend as much time doing those things as possible. I also have two young children and a puppy so all of our activities work well together.
If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with your extra time?
I would get a degree. I would like to learn about so many things.
What job do you think you’d be really good at?
I have always wanted to be a photographer. I love creating images. I really like holding a camera. I really like that the image can come out looking so much different than what we see.
What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
I would like to sail around the world.
When people come to you for help, what do they usually need help with?
In my role people are often looking for an opinion. But more often they are looking for me to validate their opinion. More often than not people know what to do, they just need some reassurance that their intuition and experience are leading them in the right direction.
What do you wish you knew more about?
There are so many things. Life is a continuous journey of knowledge.
Who has really impressed you most with what they have accomplished?
Since I’ve started this journey of Bespoke I have come to realize how much is required to run a business, how much knowledge is needed, how many individual skills are required. I am very fortunate to have a great partner and a team of people that know the things I don’t. So my hat goes off to all of the small business owners that are thriving in the ventures in spite of all of the barriers.
What would be your ideal way to spend the weekend?
A book, a boat and my family.
What fad or trend do you hope comes back?
Crocs.
What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
Meeting my wife (there’s a story and it truly revolves around luck. Fog, an airplane, a Prime Minister and a little bit of luck).
What are you absolutely determined to do?
Build an ethical, successful, profitable business where our team members are excited to come to work.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
That I am a good father.
Have you taken up a new hobby during the pandemic?
Walking.
What is the biggest takeaway you have from switching from in-person to virtual events?
At Bespoke we do live event production. At the beginning of the pandemic we thought that methodology had been derailed, however, we realized that the tools may have changed but our business hadn’t. We still do live event production and whether we have an in-person audience or a remote audience our job is still the same. Figure out what is important to our clients, find out what is going to make their event special and then come up with a plan to get there. I like the freedom and flexibility that it affords to our presenters. We can still be creative with our engagement tools and our outputs and now our presenters can easily join us from anywhere in the world.
